AHCJ Journalist-in-Residence

Farah Yousry is an award-winning journalist with over a decade of experience reporting and editing stories across multiple platforms. At AHCJ, she produces original reporting while launching the new Health Editor Help Desk, which provides editorial support to journalists and newsrooms nationwide. She previously served as managing editor at WFYI, the NPR affiliate in Indianapolis, and Side Effects Public Media, a health reporting collaboration among NPR member stations across the Midwest. Her work has appeared in local, regional and national publications, including NPR, KFF Health News and The Associated Press. Prior to that, she spent more than five years with BBC News’s Arabic service, reporting from the U.S. on stories ranging from the COVID-19 pandemic to the presidential elections. She began her journalism career in Egypt, providing on-the-ground coverage of the Arab Spring and the complex political developments that followed.
