The AACR June L. Biedler Prize For Cancer Journalism was established in 2015 to raise awareness of the role that the media play in educating the public about cancer and cancer research. The prize provides an unrestricted cash award of $5,000 and a commemorative award. It is open to print, broadcast and online professional journalists whose stories appeared in platforms that target lay public audiences. Submissions must have been published or broadcast between January 1, 2020 and November 30, 2022. The United States has a poor record compared to other high-income countries for deaths during or soon after pregnancy. This media briefing will cover demographic trends; challenges in tracking pregnancy-related death rates; disparities; and state and local prevention strategies.
