As we move into summer and states are lifting more restrictions on community interactions, how should reporters be writing about transmission of SARS-CoV-19, the virus that causes COVID-19? What do we now understand about how people become infected and how can we best inform the public about weighing the risks of returning to some of the normal activities of life, such as reopening schools, camps and restaurants, returning to offices for work and traveling for summer vacations? In the US, has our approach set us up for a spike in new cases?
