AHCJ conference in Austin, April 28-May 1

You’ve heard it before, but we really mean it this time: Health Journalism 2022 is happening (come hell or high water). The dates are April 28-May 1. The place is the Hilton Austin.

We’ve learned to live with the uncertainties of a pandemic, and we know our members have, too. As previously announced, we will require proof of full vaccination. Masking and some social distancing are likely to be part of the mix.

Captivating your readers from the first sentence

The National Press Club’s Journalism Institute is hosting this one-hour workshop on how to perfect ledes and nut graphs. The workshop will:

  • Deconstruct the difference between ledes and nut graphs
  • Identify common mistakes in crafting nut graphs
  • Offer solutions that help an inclusive community connect your journalism to their lives

Julie Moos, the executive director of the Journalism Institute, is the instructor. As the former managing director of news at McClatchy, Moos was responsible for coaching and training reporters and editors in 30 newsrooms.

When/Where: Friday, April 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ET. (Virtual)

Cost: $25 for the general public and $20 for National Press Club members
