The ongoing novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has taken the lives of more than 100,000 Americans and damaged the Nation’s economy. As the country reopens, the disease threatens the public, now and into the foreseeable future. Federal support for state, local, tribal and territorial preparedness and biosurveillance will be crucial to addressing further spread of COVID-19. The Bipartisan Commission on Biodefense intends to address national policy and resource needs for response to and recovery from this crisis.
