Nearly a third of the nation’s population is expected to experience cancer in their lifetime, most of whom are aging baby boomers who will undergo screening, diagnosis, and treatment. Care needs to be provided and paid for, raising complex issues across delivery systems. Because this is such a pressing issue, ECRI Institute and the National Cancer Institute are convening a free public service conference, “Cancer Care Delivery in a Rapidly Changing Healthcare System,” on the campus of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Registration is free; advance registration is required. Press are encouraged and welcome to attend.
This meeting is considered the premier gathering of gerontologists from both the United States and around the world. They participate in over 400 scientific sessions including symposia, paper, and poster presentations. The 2015 theme is “Aging as a Lifelong Process,” which highlights the fact that what gerontologists study is actually the cumulative outcome of lifelong events that culminate during old age.
