• American Medical Writers Association
  Offers job postings, networking, training, tutorials and guides for medical writers, including journalists.

• American Society of Journalists and Authors
  The nation’s largest professional organization of independent nonfiction writers, providing a variety of professional development tools.

• Asian American Journalists Association
  Provides mentorship, scholarships and student internships, reporting guidance, an annual conference and job listings.

• Association of Independents in Radio
  Provides mentoring, networking and training opportunities plus a jobs board.

• Institute for Journalism and Natural Resources
  Offers workshops and awards for reporting on natural resource issues, such as water quality, which often can impact health.

• International Center for Journalists
  A global network of journalists that offers tip sheets, training, mentoring, fellowships and grants.

• Journalism and Women Symposium
  Advances the professional empowerment and personal growth of women in journalism by offering mentorship, a membership directory and an annual training and networking conference.

• National Association of Black Journalists
  Offers job listings, workshops and webinars, entrepreneurial guidance and regional and national conferences.

• National Association of Hispanic Journalists
  Provides job postings, workshops, a membership directory and networking opportunities.

• National Association of Science Writers
  Provides members with job leads, free access to scientific journals, a monthly newsletter and fellowships and grants.

• Poynter Institute
  A training institute whose faculty, along with industry experts, provide journalists with person-to-person coaching, hands-on seminars and online courses.

• Society of Environmental Journalists
  Offers job listings, resources for freelancers, reporting tips and tools, fellowships, mentoring and an annual conference.

• Society of Professional Journalists
  A broad-based journalism organization offering training courses, webinars, a journalist’s toolbox, written guides and fellowships.
