The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will host a workshop to showcase local examples of formal and informal health care and transportation partnerships and explore ways to use data to estimate the value of transportation to health care in various settings.

Sessions will also examine performance measures relevant to the relationship between transit services and health care outcomes — for example, missed doctors’ appointments and hospital readmissions — as well as discuss how to calculate the return on investment for public transit and health care delivery system spending on transportation services.

Follow the conversation on Twitter using #TransitHealth.

The workshop will be held on Monday, June 6, from 8:15 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT and Tuesday, June 7, from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. EDT in Room 125 of the National Academy of Sciences building, 2101 Constitution Ave. N.W., Washington, D.C. Reporters who wish to attend must register in advance with the Office of News and Public Information; tel. 202-334-2138 or e-mail news@nas.edu.  Those who cannot attend in person can watch a live webcast.  An agenda for the workshop is available here.
