15 areas get a share of NIH’s stimulus funding

The NIH has designated $200 million of its stimulus money for 200 or more “Challenge Grants” in specific areas where NIH has judged the money will have the most immediate impact.

“Challenge Areas” in which funds will be available:

  1. Behavior, Behavioral Change, and Prevention
  2. Bioethics
  3. Biomarker Discovery and Validation
  4. Clinical Research
  5. Comparative Effectiveness Research
  6. Enhancing Clinical Trials
  7. Enabling Technologies
  8. Genomics
  9. Health Disparities
  10. Information Technology for Processing Health Care Data for Research
  11. Regenerative Medicine
  12. Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education
  13. Smart Biomaterials – Theranostics
  14. Stem Cells
  15. Translational Science
