Need help getting to the next AHCJ event? We offer limited funding outside of our formal fellowships through the Pia Christensen Travel Assistance Scholarship.
In May 2021, AHCJ lost our friend and colleague Pia Christensen to cancer. Pia, who was 50 years old, served as managing editor for online services for 15 years and was part of the Missouri School of Journalism staff for 20 years. Pia was especially enthusiastic about AHCJ’s annual conference and supported any effort making it easier for people to attend AHCJ training.
For our annual Health Journalism conference, we offer assistance for hotels and in some cases a travel stipend. If you are awarded room nights, we will make your reservation under our room block. If a travel stipend is offered, we will confirm your acceptance and reimburse you at the event.
You must be registered to attend the event to be considered for the scholarship. Scholarships will only be given to current AHCJ members and prospective members.
Those who have received a fellowship or are attending the event in some capacity that has already provided for some assistance (like a speaker or panelist) are not eligible for additional funding.
