Resources

The Association of Health Care Journalists offers a wide range of resources – many of which are available exclusively to members.

The reproductive health page was created to help you cover the health impact of increasing legal obstacles to abortion in the United States. Learn more about key Supreme Court cases, get up to speed on reproductive health terminology and find out about upcoming events that will offer additional insight to your reporting and much more.

AHCJ publications include our Daily Update enewsletter and the biannual printed newsletter, HealthBeat, as well as several guides to covering specific aspects of health and health care. Covering Health is a blog dedicated to keeping health journalists informed about the latest news in the field, aware of noteworthy stories and reports and connected with colleagues.

Members share ideas and ask questions of fellow members on the AHCJ email discussion list.

Tip sheets are written by journalists and experts in specific areas of health care, often offering sources and information about covering many topics.

"How I Did It" articles are written by journalists explaining how they tackled a project, including details about how the story idea came about, resources they used and how they overcame obstacles in their reporting.

Contest entries are from the Awards for Excellence in Health Care Journalism, recognizing the best health reporting in print, broadcast and online media. We have links to past winners and information culled from questionnaires submitted with the entries about how each story was researched and written.
