In this role, you will work with some of the world’s top scholars, awe-inspiring students and deeply committed administrators and staff members to help the University at Buffalo tell its story to Western New York, the nation and the world. This opening will focus on spotlighting how UB’s research – everything from health sciences and urban planning to AI and other scientific advancements – is helping to solve some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
Primary duties include:
Writing and strategically sharing accurate and timely news content – specifically, news releases, faculty expert tip sheets and multimedia content – for external and internal audiences.
Proactively working with regional, national and international news media to help build UB’s reputation as a top public research university that’s committed to educational excellence, cutting-edge research and community service.
Utilizing software programs to post and disseminate news content, maintain and improve UB websites, monitor news media, and other duties.
Acting as a trusted advisor to deans, professors, students and other members of the university community.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who keeps close tabs on local, national and international news, as well as the rapidly evolving digital media, technology and communications landscape. They will be comfortable working across multiple digital platforms and content formats and demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt as audience behaviors, communication tools and industry best practices evolve.
This is an on-campus position with the option for a hybrid work modality, subject to university policy.
