The National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP) will host a webinar, Enrollment 2.0: Early State Experiences in Year 2 of the ACA, which will explore Open Enrollment strategies and challenges faced by state-based exchanges and Medicaid agencies in states with federal marketplaces. Featuring panelists from Idaho and Oklahoma, the webinar will provide unique perspectives on early experiences and successes in the ACA’s second open enrollment period and shed light on the new strategies states use to make the enrollment and the renewal process more streamlined.

Idaho’s state-based exchange director, Pat Kelly, will share the state’s perspective on transitioning from the federal healthcare.gov platform during the first open enrollment period to an independent state-run portal this year. Oklahoma’s deputy Medicaid director, Rebecca Pasternik-Ikard, will discuss how the state leveraged an operational, real-time enrollment system to support improved integration between Medicaid and the federal marketplace as an FFM state and talk about new strategies to support enrollment and renewals this year. NASHP’s Enrollment 2014 Director, Alice Weiss, will provide context on state’s approaches in this second open enrollment period and how states can build on lessons from Year 1 of the ACA.
