A panel of experts in genetic testing for prenatal abnormalities will answer questions about a new generation of unregulated prenatal screening tests that claim to detect with near-perfect accuracy the risk a fetus may have a chromosomal abnormality, such as Down syndrome.
The experts include Beth Daley, an investigative reporter and the director of partnerships for the New England Center for Investigative Reporting; Kecia Gaither, MD, director of perinatal outreach at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York; Athena Cherry, PhD, a professor of pathology and of pediatrics at the Stanford University Medical Center and the Lucile Salter Packard Children’s Hospital; and KJ Dell’Antonio who writes about family for the Motherlode blog at The New York Times.
