This investigative report is the first to comprehensively evaluate the reliability and clinical value of genetic tests that are marketed direct to the consumer. As a key part of the investigation, I ordered genetic tests off the Internet. Then volunteers, including myself, followed the test directions and sent the DNA samples in for results. We found the quality and reliability of the test results, and the interpretive information provided, varied wildly. I think researched the clinical value ofeach test by talking to leading researchers on breast cancer, macular degeneration, and other major diseases.
