It’s the culmination of a half year of interviews that required the trust of four featured transgender sources, searches to find health experts willing to speak publicly, persistence to gain a Mayo Clinic interview and willingness of newspaper leadership to tackle a potentially controversial topic and give the coverage a high profile.
