Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD), a type of neurodegenerative disease, strikes otherwise healthy adults in their 40s, 50s and early 60s, creating social and financial devastation in people at the peak of their careers and parenting responsibilities. Experts regard FTD as the second most prevalent cause of dementia behind Alzheimer’s, yet up to 60 percent of cases are misdiagnosed as psychiatric disorders.
