Other magazines—ranging from broad, general circulation ones such as Money to many narrowly-targeted ones—publish an annual “The Best Places to _______.” This article was designed to identify the best states for physical therapists to practice. The calculations were based on six broad criteria—some specific to the profession of physical therapy, some more general. The six were: Well-being and future livability, literacy and health literacy, employment and employment projections, business- and practice friendliness, technology and innovation, and physical therapist and student engagement with the American Physical Therapy Association. The article also contained submissions from APTA state chapters highlighting their “best” features.
