Provide a brief synopsis of the story or stories, including any significant findings.

President Obama is taking action, sending professionals in mental health to military bases in order to help soldiers that are suffering post traumatic stress disorder and receiving treatment to try to stop the escalating numbers of suicides. In this 2 part series, we interviewed soldiers that tried to kill themselves , others that had the thoughts and how they overcame this situation. We explored and witnessed this as a public health issue. The goverment has to take action immediatley right know! More soldiers are comming back from war with mental traumas. The numbers are at the epidemic level, and we provide information of nongovermental agencies that could help them.

Explain types of documents, data or Internet resources used. Were FOI or public records act requests required? How did this affect the work?

Department of defense.org USArmy.org San Antonio Veterans Coalition. I used these resources to get some statistics, of the number of soldiers that kill themselves, and to see if there are more resources available elsewhere, not just the goverment.

Explain types of human sources used.

Advice to other journalists planning a similar story or project.

This is a topic that has many faces, we can do so many diferent stories , but to get some information from the USARMY and the US department was very difficult. It will be nice to go to Irak or Afganistan to see how the goverment is helping the active soldiers that are suffering from PTSD , post traumatic stress sindrome. and if they are ready for the return to the civil life.
