Organ Failure

The CMS last year issued tighter restrictions on organ transplants, focusing more on outcome measures and survival rates. Many transplant programs, however, fear that they won’t be able to meet the new restrictions and will either lose money or be forced to shut down. The story also puts the spotlight on the integrity of these organizations: whether or not they do in fact violate organ procurement policies and if closer scrutiny of these programs are necessary.
