Medicaid rent assistance failures

Oregon launched a Medicaid-funded rent assistance program to support people in medical or mental health crises, approving thousands for up to six months of aid in late 2024. However, the rollout faltered: rent payments were delayed for months, leaving recipients without actual support. Many showed up in eviction court with approval letters, but those documents offered no legal protection against eviction.
