“I Have an STD. Now What?” is a 5-page article that looks at the emotional ramifications of STDs. In it, Cosmo profiles two young women, one diagnosed with herpes, the other with both herpes and cervical cancer-causing HPV, who where brave enough to go public.
In her own words, each woman relates her story: The signs that led her to see a doctor, how her partner reacted to the diagnosis, and most importantly, that having an STD was not easy but also not the end of the world. We believe that the amazing candor of the women profiled has helped bring STDs out of the shadows for our readers and ease the anxiety and shame some of them may have been experiencing.
