The story–by one ofthe personal finance columnists at Dow Jones Newswires-showed how some companies are penalizing unhealthy workers through controversial new health plans. Recent legislation granted some exceptions to the requirement that all employees under a company’s health plan must pay the same premium irrespective of their health. Under some ofthese plans, unhealthy workers can pay up to $2,000 more than healthy ones in deductibles. But the story also revealed concerns that these new plans have gone too far, and violate federal law.
