Hefty issue of HealthBeat headed for mailboxes

HealthBeatThe latest issue of HealthBeat is expected to be delivered to members of the Association of Health Care Journalists any day now.

In this issue, we highlight some of our best advice and resources for covering the novel coronavirus and COVID-19, from keeping nursing home residents safe to debunking conspiracy theories (and doesn’t it seem as if there’s a new one each week?)

This issue also highlights the planning that is underway for Health Journalism 2021, including the location. It also includes a fond farewell to Len Bruzzese, who plans to step down after 15 years as executive director of AHCJ and the Center for Excellence in Health Care Journalism.

Other stories discusses creating a podcast about loneliness and aging, consumer genetic testing, climate change and a crisis of heat illnesses in the military and covering a measles outbreak.

For those of you who are still working from home but whose membership info goes to your office, you can read or download HealthBeat from healthjournalism.org. While you’re there, review some of the older issues where you’ll likely find some fresh stories ideas and resources.
