New jobs, awards, books and speaking engagements for AHCJ members

The latest AHCJ members in the news are Ricki Lewis, Trudy Lieberman, Kevin B. O’Reilly, David Pittman, Cheryl Platzman Weinstock and Kathleen Raven. See what’s happening with them:

Ricki Lewis, Ph.D., is a co-author of the 12th edition of “Hole’s Essentials of Human Anatomy & Physiology,” published in January (with David Shier and Jackie Butler). She is revising the 14th edition of “Hole’s Human Anatomy & Physiology” (with the same co-authors) as well as the 11th edition of “Human Genetics: Concepts and Applications,” of which she is the sole author. Her feature on gene therapy appeared in the March issue of Scientific American.

Trudy Lieberman is speaking at the second European Health Journalism Conference in Coventry in the United Kingdom this month. She contributed a chapter for the book “First Do No Harm,” the first book about health journalism published in Europe.

Kevin B. O’Reilly is senior editor at Cap Today, a monthly magazine published by the College of American Pathologists. He joined the publication in November 2013 after losing his position as senior reporter at American Medical News when the weekly newspaper was shut down.

David Pittman is covering health technology for Politico. He was formally at MedPage Today.

Cheryl Platzman Weinstock‘s story, “Genetic testing: Pass or Fail,” published in the March 2013 Oprah Magazine, won the American Society of Journalist’s and Authors Arlene Eisenberg Award honoring articles that make a difference.

Kathleen Raven is now a reporter at BioPharm Insight, where she will be covering oncology. She previously worked for Reuters Health and has written for Nature Medicine.
