Elizabeth Jackson (doctoral candidate, University of Washington) came to Health Journalism 2009's "Effects of global climate change on health" panel to deliver a presentation titled "Heat-related mortality in Washington State: Past and future." In it, Jackson predicts an increase in health-related deaths as a result of climate change and makes recommendations for studying, analyzing and raising public awareness of heat-related mortality.
