Dr. Anne Schuchat, principal deputy director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), will provide an update on the novel coronavirus outbreak.
As additional cases of the virus, first identified in China in the city of Wuhan, are confirmed in the United States, Dr. Schuchat will outline the CDC’s ongoing response.
The press conference in the Club’s First Amendment Room, “2019 Coronavirus: What We know, What We’re Doing,” is open to credentialed media and Club members free of charge. Registration is required.
Dr. Schuchat played key roles in CDC’s emergency responses to the 2009 H1N1 pandemic influenza, the 2003 SARS outbreak in Beijing, and the 2001 bioterrorist anthrax response. In addition, she has worked on vaccine trials for meningitis, pneumonia and Ebola.
