The National Academy of Medicine will host a screening of the documentary “Bending the Arc,” which tells the story of Paul Farmer, Jim Yong Kim, Ophelia Dahl, Todd McCormack, and Thomas White and the movement they began in the 1980s that changed global health. They co-founded Partners In Health and a community health model to treat diseases such as tuberculosis & HIV/AIDS that has saved millions of lives in the developing world.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion on bolstering leadership and investment to conquer today’s pressing global threats, moderated by Alishya Mayfield, senior clinical adviser on strategy for Partners In Health, associate scientist in the Division of Global Health Equity at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and instructor at Harvard Medical School.
