The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine committee examining the state of the science on prescription opioid abuse and misuse since the 2011 study, “Relieving Pain in America: A Blueprint for Transforming Prevention, Care, Education, and Research,“ will hold a public workshop on Sept. 22. The workshop will feature discussions on the evidence on pain research, care, and education; trends in consequences of prescription opioids; and interventions to reduce opioid-related harms. There also will be a public comment session.

The workshop will be held on Thursday, Sept. 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EDT in the auditorium of the National Academy of Sciences building, 2101 Constitution Ave. N.W., Washington, D.C.
