Pain Management and Prescription Opioid-Related Harms

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine committee examining the state of the science on prescription opioid abuse and misuse since the 2011 study, “Relieving Pain in America: A Blueprint for Transforming Prevention, Care, Education, and Research, will hold a public workshop on Sept. 22.  The workshop will feature discussions on the evidence on pain research, care, and education; trends in consequences of prescription opioids; and interventions to reduce opioid-related harms. There also will be a public comment session.

 The workshop will be held on Thursday, Sept. 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EDT in the auditorium of the National Academy of Sciences building, 2101 Constitution Ave. N.W., Washington, D.C.
