The Institute of Medicine hosts a roundtable discussion at its Washington headquarters on health literacy’s role in precision medicine. The daylong meeting among a panel of experts will look at health literacy in “the genomic era” as well as how understanding health has evolved over time.

Panelists will discuss issues involving informed consent, recruiting representative study cohorts and communicating research results clearly. In particular, one session with Weill Cornell Medical College Associate Professor of Healthcare Policy and Research Jessica Ancker will address “Communicating risk to low health literacy populations.”
