The Institutes of Medicine holds a daylong workshop in Irving, Calif., on “Integrating Health Literacy, Cultural Competency, and Language Access Services.” Part of the IOM’s efforts to examine public health, the event will look at strategies to improve health literacy from a variety of angles, including insurers, doctors, patients’ families and more. The workshop is the IOM’s third such meeting looking at how health literacy impacts public health.
