The four stories in this entry shows the variety and depth of my health beat reporting — I regularly write features, breaking news, columns and trend pieces. A couple of these stories have shown direct impact. The little girl with leukemia featured in the June 2 column received much support from the community, including a birthday party organized in her honor. We broke the news of Cover Oregon’s security breach in the Nov. 22 piece, prompting changes in the health insurance exchange’s processes. The next week, two more instances of security breaches were discovered.
