  • Environmental Health

The lowest-observed-adverse-effect level (LOAEL) is the lowest tested dose of a substance that has been reported to cause harmful (adverse) health effects in people or animals. LOAEL is contrasted with No Observed Adverse Effect Level (NOAEL), the highest dose at which there was not an observed toxic or adverse effect.
