A computer-generated image, video or audio that is made up but looks or sounds as if it came from a real person. Hackers sometimes use deepfakes to impersonate a political or company leader, either to get an audience to behave in a certain way or potentially give up passwords, etc. to allow them to access their networks. They employ artificial intelligence and machine learning programs to produce believable, realistic looking but fake videos, pictures or audio of the person in question.
