Wisconsin Health Journalism Fellowship Logo

AHCJ, with the support of the Medical College of Wisconsin, provides financial assistance to journalists who wish to attend AHCJ’s annual conference. Fellowships are open to full-time Wisconsin print, broadcast and online journalists and part-timers or freelancers who derive the majority of their income from journalism.

Cohort Experience: This fellowship is a six-month cohort experience with touchpoints throughout the year to strengthen peer and professional relationships. The cohort will kick off at the 2025 conference with a group networking meet-up. There will be at least two additional virtual training opportunities between June and December that Fellows are required to attend. Fellows will also be paired with a mentor through AHCJ’s mentorship program.

Fellowships include:

  • Conference registration
  • One year’s membership in AHCJ (new or extended)
  • Up to four nights in hotel (Wed.-Sat.)
  • Travel assistance within the continental U.S.
    • We budget approximately $500 for an economy flight and ground transportation. If selected as a fellow and $500 is not sufficient to travel to Los Angeles, please contact Susan Cunningham, AHCJ’s event manager, at susan@healthjournalism.org prior to booking.

Application deadline: March 19, 2025
