Using smartphones and DSLRs to tell stories

Online and social media platforms provide journalists with new ways of telling stories beyond the printed word. But journalists don’t have to invest in high priced professional video cameras or audio equipment to tell a multimedia story.

• Patricia Salber, M.D., is founder and host of The Doctor Weighs In, multimedia company that uses stories, videos and podcasts to share cutting-edge, evidence-based stories about health technology and health innovation with her global audience.

• Andrea King Collier is a multimedia journalist and author who uses a host of tools, including her smart phone, audio recorder, and DSLR to tell stories.
