Sunshine Week is a national initiative to open a dialogue about the importance of open government and freedom of information. Participants include print, broadcast and online news media, civic groups, libraries, nonprofits, schools and others interested in the public's right to know.

Events scheduled for the week include:

OpenTheGovernment.org is hosting a webcast during this year’s Sunshine Week called “The Road Forward on Open Government.” During the webcast, transparency experts will discuss how President Obama’s open government initiatives are being put into practice. The panels will take audience questions from all participants. The event will be hosted at the Center for American Progress in Washington, D.C., and will be available online.
