This joint meeting of the National Association of Science Writers and the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing will feature a mix of professional development workshops, briefings on the latest scientific research, extensive networking opportunities, and field trips. It is a meeting for science writers, by science writers, with content to appeal to the newest writers and seasoned professionals.
Applications for travel fellowships are due Sept. 3.
At the meeting, on Oct. 17, there will be a mixer for science writers of all stripes to meet and talk. The primary aim is to engage minorities, but everyone is welcome. On Oct. 18, there will be an all-star panel of successful minority journalists to bring to light issues that uniquely affect their communities. Science writer Francie Diep will also present results from the first-ever survey of minority science writers.
