The California Office of the Patient Advocate’s (OPA) will release the 2015-16 update of the California Health Care Quality Report Cards on October 8, 2015.

Reporters will be able to review the new data on the online report cards for star ratings and performance results of interest to their local audiences.

“Choosing the health care plan that best meets family needs is critical, yet many people spend more time researching the best restaurant for dinner than they do checking out the quality of their health coverage options,” according to Elizabeth Abbott, OPA Director and long-time consumer advocate.

The Report Cards detail how California’s commercial HMOs, PPOs, and over 200 medical groups rate on quality of clinical care as well as on patient experience and receive evidence-based star ratings on their overall performance and specific clinical and patient experience data.

The updated Report Cards will be available on the Office of the Patient Advocate website (www.opa.ca.gov) on October 8, 2015.

Business and Health reporters may contact Ruben Mejia at (916) 322-2279 or (916) 324-6407 for more detailed information about the release of the 2015-16 Report Cards or to arrange an interview with OPA Director Elizabeth Abbott.
