New Report Card on Infectious Disease Outbreaks, Including Ebola, Enterovirus, Superbugs, to be Released, Includes National & State-by-State Info

Press briefing conference call to release “Outbreaks: Protecting Americans from Infectious Diseases,” which includes a report card for how well states scored on 10 indicators of strategies to prevent and control infectious disease outbreaks in addition to national and global concerns.

Some topics featured in the report include emerging new diseases like Ebola, Chikungunya and Chagas; antibiotic-resistant Superbugs; healthcare-associated infections such as MRSA; the resurgence of old threats like whooping cough and tuberculosis; HIV/AIDS and hepatitis; and the ability to respond to bioterrorism attacks.

The Outbreaks report-which found troubling errors, lapses and scrambles- will be released by the Trust for America’s Health and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
