This symposium serves as a platform for the exchange of best practices, knowledge and resources regarding the prevention of tobacco use and other addictive substances within minority communities. It aims to bring together a broad range of participants. Abstracts from research and/or practice-orientated projects from community members or organizations are welcome.
Topics will relate to reduction of tobacco and other addictive substances within minority communities, including:

Collaborative partnerships for addressing tobacco prevention among youth

The use of social media and/or technology to promote tobacco cessation

Interventions in which specific strategies for promoting tobacco use cessation, preventing tobacco use initiation, and eliminating exposure to second-hand smoke among minority males are especially encouraged

Interventions that address tobacco-related disparities among population groups through community-based participatory research

Policy changes that impact laws, ordinances, resolutions, mandates, regulations, or rules (both formal and informal)

Tobacco, alcohol and/or substance use reduction programs tailored for underserved, marginalized, and vulnerable populations
