The FDA and New York Academy of Sciences are hosting a 2-day public forum to discuss obstacles to the clinical application of promising cytokines and cytokines antagonists and alternate methods for their delivery.
Organizers say cytokines, organic signaling molecules similar to hormones, have applications in the treatment of several human diseases, including cancer and autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis and inflammatory bowel disease.
