Evidence in Complementary Medicine: Getting it Right

This all-day event at Canada Olympic Park will feature an array of speakers on the leading edge of evidence-informed CAM. Confirmed speakers include:

  • Marja Verhoef, Ph.D., (keynote speaker), who is the Canada Research Chair in Complementary Medicine, and a professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the University of Calgary.
  • Steven Aung, M.D., Ph.D., professor of medicine at the University of Alberta, and a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner. He is president of the Canadian Medical Acupuncture Society.
  • Margaret Sampson, M.L.I.S., director of information science for the Chalmers Research Group and the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute. She publishes extensively on search methodologies for systematic reviews, including for CAM therapies.
  • Judy Seidel, Ph.D., researcher, Health Services Research, Centre for the Advancement of Health, Calgary Health Region and the University of Calgary.
  • Catherine Ulbricht, Pharm.D., founder, Natural Standard
  • Christian Patrick, worldwide sales director, Point of Care Resources, EBSCO Publishing.
  • Jennifer Robinson, product manager, OVID Technologies

This symposium is hosted by the Northern Alberta Health Libraries Association, the Southern Alberta Health Libraries Association, and the Health Knowledge Network.
