The nonprofit group ECRI will hold a webinar June 23 at noon ET about the 2021 recall alert for certain Philips Respironics issued a recall alert for certain CPAP, BiPAP and mechanical ventilator devices due to potential health risks. Polyester-based polyurethane (PE-PUR) foam within the devices can break down, leading to the potential ingestion of black pieces of foam or certain chemicals, while using the device, ECRI said. Although the recall was issued a year ago, a full resolution has not been provided. On the webinar, experts will discuss the cause of the problem and recommendations for helping patients.
