COVID-19 Testing Possibilities, Challenges, and Equity Implications

On Wednesday, April 22, from 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. EDT, the National Academy of Medicine and the American Public Health Association will hold a webinar on the state of diagnostic and antibody testing – the fifth in the COVID-19 Conversations series.

Experts will explore how data from testing can provide a clear picture of who has been infected, who can safely return to work, and how the virus is spreading. They will also discuss how to ensure equitable access to testing, particularly among communities of color, the uninsured and underinsured, and people with disabilities.

Panelists are:

  • David Relman (moderator) — Thomas C. and Joan M. Merigan Professor and professor of microbiology and immunology, Stanford University

  • Georges Benjamin — executive director, American Public Health Association

  • Ashish Jha — director, Harvard Global Health Institute, and K.T. Li Professor of Global Health, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health

  • Jill Taylor — director, Wadsworth Center, New York State Public Health Department
