The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Commission to Build a Healthier America will convene the Commission's third field hearing in Denver on December 10 to examine how work and the workplace affect the health of Americans.
The 14-member national, independent, non-partisan Commission began its work in February, investigating how factors outside the health care system – such as early life experiences, the availability of nutritious food and access to safe housing – shape and affect individuals' opportunities to make healthy choices and lead healthy lives.
The Denver field hearing is the Commission's final public hearing. The Commission's hearings and independent research are leading to a set of recommendations to be released in 2009 that will identify specific, feasible steps that private and public sectors can take to improve the health of all Americans. The goal is to produce measurable improvements within years, not decades.
