Food Environment Atlas: Many elderly suffer from poor or malnutrition. They may live in food deserts, can’t afford nutritious food, or suffer from physical conditions which affect appetite, mobility or nutrient absorption. This atlas looks at food environment factors — you can download USDA data sets at the county level to compare numerous factors such as store/restaurant proximity, food prices, food and nutrition assistance programs, income and community characteristics — which interact to influence food choices and diet quality.
