Understanding Obamacare

“Understanding Obamacare” is an occasional series that examines how the Affordable Care Act is impacting the people, patients and health care providers of Southwest Virginia. Each installment of the series was based on the story of a local resident, weaving personal experiences with the policy implications of a variety of elements of the ACA: The proposed Medicaid expansion in Virginia, the insurance marketplaces, the individual mandate, outreach efforts by navigators, problems with the marketplace website, how a physician shortage could grow worse under the law, and a look at how people with pre-existing conditions will benefit from the law.
