The Undercovered Class

Various studies estimate that between 12 percent and 29 percent of Americans are underinsured. That is, they have health insurance, but spend a significant portion of their income on health care, face rising medical debt, and even avoid getting care. The story looks at this growing class of people–many of whom are in the middle class–how the crisis impacts them and taxes the entire health care system.
