The Debate Over Health Care Reform

The leading Democratic and Republican presidential candidates have put forward proposals for revamping the nation’s health care system. National Journal asked ten health care experts who span the ideological spectrum to assess five key aspects of the plans. This is a detailed examination of those proposals, from both a political and policy standpoint. The story further explores the impact of these plans on legislative action on health care reform in Congress following the 2008 presidential election.

Judges’ Comments: Comprehensive well written and, of course, very timely. Simply, the best nuts-and-bolts explanation of the difference between the candidates’ health care plans that I’ve seen.
